About Eatonton, GA - Happy to be your hometown Heating & Air Conditioning Contractor!

Eatonton, Georgia is a growing city of approximately 6,500 residents, and it serves as the county seat for Putnam County. The city was founded after the American Revolutionary War in 1807, and it was named for William Eaton, a prominent officer in the First Barbary War. Eatonton was most notably the home of The Color Purple author Alice Walker as well as Olympian Vincent Hancock. Today, the city is sometimes referred to as the “Dairy Capital of Georgia” to honor its major industry.

There are plenty of things to see and do in Eatonton. Located between two lakes (Lake Sinclair and Lake Oconee), water-related activities are popular in the area. Fishing, boating, and swimming are all major pastimes during the warm spring, summer, and autumn months.

There are many other attractions located in and around Eatonton. The Plaza Arts Center is a cultural hub for the county, while history enthusiasts may prefer a trip to the Native American Rock Eagle Mound. Other notable destinations in the city include Great Waters Golf Course, the Uncle Remus Museum, and the Georgia Writers Museum.

Found in Central Georgia, Eatonton has a humid subtropical climate. Weather conditions here are typical of the Southeast, which tend to feature long, hot summers. July is the hottest month of the year, with average high temperatures reaching well into the 90s. The right central air conditioner can keep your home cool regardless of the conditions outdoors. Many residents also invest in an air purifier to reduce dust, allergens, and germs before they circulate throughout their homes.

The hot summer will transition into a cool, short winter. January is the coolest month of the year, with average high temperatures reaching the mid-50s. While snowfall is not common, average lows can easily fall below the freezing point throughout the season. A heat pump or home furnace can keep indoor conditions comfortable while reducing winter utility costs.
